Terms of use

Draft. This document has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. Details marked with square brackets [ ] will be filled in before the platform launches. The Lithuanian version is the binding one; this is a translation.

1. General

These terms govern the use of the OXTARIS platform (oxtaris.lt, the “Platform”). The Platform is operated by [operator name, company code, registered address] (“OXTARIS”).

By using the Platform, registering or posting a listing you confirm that you have read these terms and the Privacy policy and agree to follow them.

The Platform is for adults (18 or older) selling or buying cattle on their own behalf or on behalf of a company they represent.

2. What the Platform is

OXTARIS is a listings platform connecting cattle farmers (“farmers”) with buyers (“managers”). It also publishes indicative purchase prices, market news and partner information.

OXTARIS is not a party to any transaction. The price, payment, transport, the animals’ health and origin documents, and every other legal requirement, veterinary ones included, are agreed and carried out by the parties themselves, at their own responsibility.

3. Accounts

  • A farmer’s account is created with a phone number, confirmed by an SMS code. An email address and a password are optional — you can sign in with your phone number.
  • A manager’s account needs company details, an email address and a phone number, each confirmed by a code. An OXTARIS administrator approves the account.
  • One phone number can belong to one account only, and an account has one role only: farmer or manager.
  • The details you give must be accurate. If they change, update them or let us know.
  • You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe. If you think someone else is using your account, change your password at once and let us know.

4. Listings

  • Listing is free for farmers. You may only list animals you are entitled to sell, and what you say about them must be accurate and not misleading.
  • The contact phone number is confirmed by an SMS code. If you give someone else’s number, such as a family member’s, you must have their permission.
  • Photos must show the animals for sale. Avoid photographing people, number plates and other personal information. The listing’s reference number is stamped on each photo.
  • Do not put contact details in the description or the photos: the Platform passes on the contact number itself, under the rules in section 5.
  • A listing is shown for 7 days. We then ask by SMS whether the animals have been sold. If you answer “No”, the listing is extended by another 7 days — once only. If you do not answer, the listing is hidden. A hidden listing can be renewed, which creates a new listing.
  • Once the animals are sold, mark the listing as sold at any time.
  • OXTARIS may block a listing that breaks these terms or the law without prior notice, and may suspend or block the account of a user who breaks them.

5. Contact protection

A listing’s contact number is not shown publicly. It can be opened only by an approved manager with current access or — if the listing’s owner has consented and an administrator has made the number public — by any visitor. You can withdraw that consent at any time from your listings.

A contact you receive may be used only to get in touch about that listing’s animals. It is prohibited to:

  • collect contacts by automated means or copy them in bulk;
  • pass on, resell or publish them to anyone else;
  • use them for marketing, advertising or any other purpose unrelated to the listing.

Breaking these rules is grounds for removing access immediately.

6. Manager access and payment

  • An administrator approves a manager’s account once — after you say what you buy, submit purchase prices and accept the clause in section 8.
  • Access to contacts lasts 7 days from each price submission, provided payment is current. After 7 days the prices must be updated.
  • The number of contacts that can be opened per day is limited. Contacts on slaughter and calf listings open only to managers who have said they buy such animals.
  • The price of access and the payment terms are shown on the Platform or agreed with OXTARIS. A company subscription is paid by bank transfer against an invoice, and OXTARIS activates access once payment is received.
  • If these terms are broken, OXTARIS may suspend a manager’s or a company’s access.

7. Prices

Prices published on the Platform are indicative and not binding. An OXTARIS administrator publishes them based on prices submitted by approved managers. The final price is agreed between seller and buyer.

8. Price submission and restriction of access

The Oxtaris administrator reserves the right to restrict or revoke a buyer’s access to the platform if it is found that the prices submitted do not correspond to the prevailing market prices, deliberately mislead other participants of the platform, or that information on the platform is being used to gain an unfair advantage or otherwise to exploit the platform’s information unfairly.

9. Partners

Partner and specialist information is provided by the partners themselves. OXTARIS is not responsible for their services or for the accuracy of what they provide.

10. Limitation of liability

The Platform is provided as is. We work to keep it running without interruption but cannot guarantee it. OXTARIS is not liable for the accuracy of information users provide, for transactions between the parties, or for losses arising from them, except where the law does not allow such liability to be limited.

11. Changes to these terms

OXTARIS may change these terms. The current version and the date it was published are always shown on this page. We will tell registered users about significant changes on the Platform or through the contact they gave us. By continuing to use the Platform after a change, you accept the new version.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Lithuania. We try to settle disputes by negotiation, and failing that, in the courts of the Republic of Lithuania.
